We built BoulderLink to help you log sends and climb with your crew — not to sell your data. Here's how we handle your information.

1. Introduction

BoulderLink ("we," "our," or "us") operates the BoulderLink whitelabel climbing platform — including branded mobile and web apps for partner gyms and clients, and this website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to all users of any app or service powered by BoulderLink, regardless of the partner brand shown in the app.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

When you use BoulderLink, you may provide:

  • Account details such as your name, email, username, and profile photo
  • Climbing activity including sends, projects, grades, notes, and challenge progress
  • Gym check-ins and membership barcode data (when you enable gym-pass check-in)
  • Clips, stories, and other media you upload
  • Messages and crew interactions within the app
  • Support requests and feedback you send us

Information collected automatically

We may automatically collect:

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • IP address and general location (country/region level)
  • Usage data such as screens viewed, features used, and crash reports
  • Cookies and similar technologies on our website

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve BoulderLink's core features — topo, logging, challenges, and clips
  • Show leaderboards, crew activity, and gym-specific content
  • Authenticate your account and keep it secure
  • Send service notifications you've opted into (e.g. challenge updates)
  • Respond to support requests and fix bugs
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the product
  • Screen user-generated text and media for policy violations and keep the community safe

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Other climbers — profile info, sends, and clips you choose to make visible to your crew or gym community
  • Gym partners — aggregated or member-level data when your gym uses BoulderLink tools, as described in your gym's terms
  • Service providers — hosting, analytics, push notifications, media storage, chat infrastructure, and content moderation (including Hive), under contractual obligations to protect your data
  • Legal requirements — when required by law or to protect the safety of our users

5. Content moderation

To protect climbers, gyms, and partners across every BoulderLink-powered app, we use automated and manual content moderation. This applies to all clients and whitelabel deployments on the platform.

Depending on the feature and your gym's configuration, we may moderate:

  • Images and video — profile photos, route and competition images, clips, stories, and other uploads
  • Text — usernames, profile fields, route and challenge titles, descriptions, send notes, messages, and similar user-entered content

When moderation is enabled, uploads may be held in quarantine and checked before they are published. Video clips may remain in review until automated checks complete. We use Hive (The Hive.ai) visual and text moderation services to analyze submitted content for categories such as sexual content, violence, hate, spam, and other policy violations. Relevant content is transmitted to Hive for this automated analysis only — we do not use Hive to sell your data.

We store moderation outcomes (such as detected categories, provider responses, and strike counts) to enforce our policies, block repeat violations, and support manual review by our team or gym administrators where applicable. If you believe content was moderated in error, contact contact@tmz-software.com.

6. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and analytics tools (such as Vercel Analytics) to understand traffic and improve the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

7. Data retention and security

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Export your climbing history
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent for optional communications

9. Children's privacy

BoulderLink is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of BoulderLink after changes means you accept the updated policy.
